Response to brake shoes

The 3" setup requires different backing plates, and also the upper spindle bolt that the wheel cyl and brake return springs hook on. Hawk provided me with the Ford part numbers, which I didn't see in my parts books. Here is his reply to me last week:

Hello, thanks for the message. Sorry I could not respond sooner but I was away for the weekend so I did not have access to my books to get specifics for you. There are three different bolts, one for regular 2 1/2 inch brakes (C2AZ-2027-D 15/16"-16 X 2.643) one for 3 inch brakes on normal service vehicles (C2AZ-2027-E 15/16"-16 X 2.893) and one for 3 inch brakes on Taxi's (C3AZ-2027-A 15/16"-16 X 2.923). Hope this is what you are looking for. Tom AKA Hawkrod

In addition: The "normal service" 3" has one part number, and the taxi has a bolt that's about .030 longer. Hawk thinks the return springs for the latter setup might be heavier, thus requiring the .030 difference.

I'll have to find out if the 3" setup requires a heavier brake spring setup also.
