I`ve never had an American Express card, in fact I`ve been "getting by" with just a single Visa card for many years, and it has always been adequate. However, it seems that I always seem to get at least 3 or 4 "you are pre approved!" credit card applications in the mail each month, and some stores are always trying to sign you up for their own cards each time you walk into the store. Much like the sub prime mortage fiasco, it seems like easy credit will put the hurt on the credit card companys now.
