If the car sits on it's origional springs I doubt it's still at factory height and deviating 3" from stock is quite a bit (raising or lowering). And if all the front & rear bushings are origional the contribute to the suspinsion drooping after 43 years.
I rebuild the entire front & rear suspension on two of my 65 Galaxies and the difference in stance & handling was dramatic.
I had custom springs made for one of them, I use Coil Spring Specialities, they will build them however you want. I lowered the car 2" in the front & 1 1/2" in the rear. I also hade the strength of the springs increased a bit to improve handling.
Rebuilduing the suspension and replacing the springs is not cheap but it is an investment in your car that will improve the value and it will gretaly improve your enjoyment driving it.
A down & dirty method to raise the car is some steel inserts for the front coils and a set of air shocks for the rear!
