The car is a 1968 Mustang Coupe with a 2001 Cobra independent rear suspension (4.10 gearing).
Currently the car has it's original 289 in it. I have a 390 waiting in the wings.
Tranny will be a C-6 which I have yet to pick up.
More than likely I'll try maxing out the exhaust to 2.5" flowmaster but still undecided.
All this is really new to me.
The engine has been sitting for a long time and i'm not sure of it's condition other than "grimy". At this point I take it from your response that it will be dependent on the condition of what I find as to my next move. If I find that I need to replace the pistons do you suggest I move towards a stroker?
Silly question; how do you determine if you require new pistons or just a rebuild kit? Compression test?
cheers
