But that doesn't mean they were or are Ford Fans. Evidenced by the number of Mustangs with LS-1 engines in them, showing up in Magazines (and find very little resale value on Craigs' list or E-bay once the novelty wears off). Given the number of genuine, powerful, Ford engines that can easily swap into a Mustang - the only explination I have come up with is those guys don't now how to build a Ford, know of the number of options available - or have the time/smarts to build an engine without having a "Cook Book" sitting on the bench to tell them how its done.
Been building, driving and abusing Ford since Metusela was in Short pants. even back then, the majority of kids I went to school with seldom took the time to learn how to modify an engine. They went to the local speed shop, asked for how to get "X" amount of horsepower...the counter guy sold them a sh*t load of parts, then they went home and "tried" to put them together. As the local Ford guy, I enjoyed the unheralded pleasure of cleaning up many, many messes that were underneath Chevy valve covers. I really didn't mind - cause I got paid (and I also got a pretty good idea of what was under the hood of most of the cars in town) - its always good to know what the competition is running!
I have respect for any guy that gets grease under his finger nails - up to the elbows. But, in general, most of the second generation Fox-body guys I know are late comers to the Ford show. Converts that jumped on the bandwagon - after getting their door blown off their Camaros, corvettes and Chevells by "lil" 5.0 mustangs. Like with anything that get real popular, real quick - you have to take the good with the bad.
Some of those same people have left the Ford fold - they are the ones driving the new bred of winged and spoilered wonder wagon imports. Like lemmings, they tend to follow the herd.
