Response to Were there *any* 1965 427-4v, or *any* 427 big Mercs 66-67?

I have seen 1 1967 full size Mercury with a 427 single four barrel and a four speed. It was owned by a Ford mechanic that bought it from the first owner in the late 70's. You remember, gas was nearly a dollar a gallon and people dumped these cars like they were poison. The guy traded it on a shit box of some kind. Probably a Fairmont or Pinto. In addition to being the only 427 full size Mercury I have ever seen, it had a 160 mph speedo in it. If it was recent, I would think someone had "restored" it to this condition, but it was original. This was in Greeley Colorado. I haven't seen him or the car in about 20 years, but if he is still around there, he will still have the car. Somebody in our Galaxie club had a 427 2x4v about 10 years ago. It was as pulled from the weeds so it was probably original too.
