Model A's are a blast. I have been tinkering with one. I bought it off a farmer that stashed it away in his barn in 1979. Got it home, Put a 6 volt battery in it starter just spun without engaging, starter drive grease was all dried up. Took off starter, loosend up starter drive and regreased. Took carb off and cleaned it out, put in fresh gas filled radiator and it started right up. Was out driving it around my place in about a 1/2 hour.
Your problem does sounds like what 68GT500 pointed out, adjust that main jet.
Pictures of my A when I got it home. Late 1931 rumble seat coupe.
