You are partially correct. Big items will not come out of the converter. Not even through a small drain plug. That's why I flush the converter out if at all possible when I have it out. Unfortunately this time around I didn't find anyone here that had a converter flushing tank. But if there are big items that won't come out of the converter you'd have bigger problems than a simple fluid change.
