Response to Question about trans fluid |
| george when i bought my converter from ATI they told me to ONLY use type F fluid. they also said it was really better than the b&m fluid. what you need to do is remove the pan inspect for mettalic particles and clutch dust residue. then replace the filter with a new one. also drain converter. when you get it all back together start car in neutral, then shift into reverse and run car for a couple of minutes or so. then go back to neutral, shift to first gear then shift thru the other gears.every thing should be fine.the reason for running in reverse first is that it pulls fluid thru the filter first instead of going thru the tranny and then thru the filter. this was not thought up by me i have a friend that builds auto trannys for a ford dealership. he did my tranny in my supergas car and he said that was the best way to do it. also i forgot to say be sure you have it on jack stands. i have followed his advice on three race car tranny's and workig on the fourth, all different cars with no failures remember a couple cases of trans fluid and a filter are a lot cheaper than a tranny rebuild. good luck.....hope this helps....gopher |
