I use eccentric eliminators on the cars here. I usually set camber at zero or very close just using a level on the disk brake rotor at ride height. You really need slip plates or the equivalent, AFAIK.
FWIW - I do just about everything - build engines, transmissions, paint, electrical, I even built the shop my junk is in. But I never cared to do alignments at home. $50, give a decent shop the specs and you're done. With the eliminators and poly bushings, things don't change very often unless you hit something.
