I'll probably get flamed for this because I know some folks don't agree with all of it but the "How to Rebuild Big Block Ford Engines" by Steve Christ is IMHO indespensibel to a first time FE builder. He covers the build for an FE in a clear step by step fashion. The only thing I found more useful than the book is the good advice you can get on this forum.
