The single rear facing seat would be fine, I can still squeeze a pair of the little ones back there. The boys are 2 1/2, old enough to be in boosters rather than regular seats.
I was picturing the regular three-rows they had in the fifties, but I remember the rear facing third row. I'm searching around for some images so I can see what the configuration looks like.
