Response to 62 galaxie hood hinge problem

Folks, make sure your front hood latch isn't pushing the hood rearward. That will also hold the back of the hood up. Like I said, I had a similar problem and was able to adjust it out. If it shut fine before you removed it then it still should shut fine after. Grab the front of the hood under the lip and try to pull it forward. If the rear of the hood starts coming down then readjust the hood latch mechanism forward until it helps pull the rear of the hood down.
Like I said. If it worked before you messed with it then it should work again. Replacing the hinge will just give you more headache.
Also, raise the hood and have someone try to force it up as far as it will go and watch the hinge at the pivot points. If the rivets are bad you should see movement at them. If there isn't any significant movement then it's not a rivet problem.
