If you are sanding it because of dirt, you have no choice. If you are sanding because it was not cleared after initial application of basecoat, you need to check the product data sheet or talk to the supplier. It can vary from 12 hours to 7 days depending on the paint company. You have to reapply color to the areas sanded before you clear.
