I just got back. I was told the famous Tommy and Mrs T were there but missed you guys. I checked in at Johns wonderful hospitality area a few times on Saturday (and Sunday) and had free Canadian beer! John is a great guy.
I missed a couple others too but by fluke managed to meet Craig from the land down under when after talking to him and not cluing in to a subtle accent I noticed the "Ford Midsize Owners Meet, Warnambool" (sp?)on the back of his shirt and asked "are you Craig?", sure enough. He had plenty of his fellow countrymen there. There were a few cars from Australia including a historic Ash Marshall fuel dragster in the Cacklefest.
Saturday was jammed. Noticing people wearing FE shirts (I was) was near futile, i'd probably have not even noticed topless women in that big crowd.
Phil and Steve did a great job and i'm hoping Steve made it the rest of the way back home after the alternator quit on the truck in Fresno. We were at the In&Out Burger and saw him there. He got the spare battery from the motorhome I rode down in and still had a couple hours more of driving in the dark to do.
I didn't see Gas Ronda on Sunday at all. I happened across a couple wearing "Performance Associates" jackets (It was cold in the morning!) and turns they work there. I got a business card as well as photo of me and Gas and didn't get 'em signed. Good reason to be there again next year.
Seems like they are dropping like flies but it's sure great to see the old timers enjoying themselves there. Whenever i'm able to get my photos up i've got one of Lou Senter, Ed Iskenderian, Chris Karamesines all together... that's 200 years of hot rodding!
