There seem to be a host of HTML-related issues with N54 these days, in particular the inability to put up links. When can we expect a solution? I'm a premium paying member and this is becoming a significant nuisance. Like others I'll be casting around for a new host service if we can't get to the bottom of this VERY soon and start to get some value for our money evn though we have been with N54 for more than 9 years.

I'm not sure if Chris got your message, so email me tomorrow afternoon if you have not heard. We implemented a new security scheme/filter for posts. People were able to get around the old one and take over the forum owner's account. Very bad. We are still working out some kinks and another version goes out tomorrow (particularly if you are not using the standard latin-1 character set).

BTW: What was the example HTML or post that had a problem? Post without formatted text enabled.

I've emailed N54 (Nick) on several occasions, but still have not received a reply, and I'm a PREMIER member!!!!!

We still can't post links properly. The usual HTML format does not work. This is a major issue and is costing us members to competitive sites. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alex,

Would you please email me the HTML that you're trying to post?

We really needed to add the new parser ASAP and have it in place to take care of a security issue. I've been working on getting codes to work with the new parser, and I know there are still some lingering parser issues so if you send me the code I'll get to work on it right away.

cpmoser@network54.com

Thanks!

- Hi, Alex. Have you receved any kind of answer fom Network54?

Not even the 'a href="mailto:' links have worked anymore. The server automatically adds http;//www.network54.com/ before email addresses, doing so the resulting link will never work.

That's just one more mistake among others... I keep waiting for, still.

No...and I'm disappointed

No answer via email or by a posting in this thread. I'm surprised; at one time these sorts of serious issues were dealt with in real time. Now they are not answered at all. And I'm a Premier member.

Hi Alex,

Please email the HTML code you're trying to post (anyone else having issues please email me as well).

cpmoser@network54.com

We needed to get the parser in place ASAP due to a security issue, so I'm taking care of any issues as they arise with the parser.

Historical ststistics lost?

The HTML mysteriously started working again, although I wasn't informed it was back up.

Alas, our historical posting statistics have been set back to 0. So, now we can't do any historical comparisons, or indeed even get a page view/posts count for today. Yikes!

HTML table and CSS stylesheets issues seems to be solved.

Thank you Chris Moser for answering.

After tests I see that two other still remains: the e-mail linkage (a href="'---'")xxx(/a) and the strange latin-1 characters under ISO 8859-1.

I hope it may be solved too. Tnx.

Mailto linkage solved

No score for this post
December 10 2008, 11:17 PM

After several "trying times" I am glad to report that I managed to put the "mailto" link to work again, what became a simple matter at the end.

The usual way to link a name to its e-mail address is made through the "a href=mailto" tag, but the N54 new parser does not allow that anymore.

Solution:
- Just discard the 'a href' tag with all its gadgets. Leave only the mailto content with no quotation marks:

mailto + ':' + e-mail address

This way it will link well:

tosomebody@provider.com
