Glad you guys had such good fortune on the cruise, we were wondering about you and hoping you had good luck all the way.
Out in the islands I suppose the jelly fish were not as bad as on the mainland. I actually had to look Formentera up on the world map, as I wasnt familiar with it. Now I am. Thanks for the geography lesson.
Some of the boats you saw were just spectacular, here is one that really caught my attention! I suppose the captain was also looking at your boat too, saying "hey look at that, it's a Chris Craft Commander!"
Funny, nobody is flocking to my part of the Cumberland River with boats like these, I wonder why?? Ha!
Thanks for sharing the photos, I'm going to look through all of them again, and look forward to the additional ones too.
I'm new here at this forum, and have been reading up on lots of the threads. I saw where this boat was discovered in Germany! What a great story.
Now I am stunned by these photos of an arid climate on such fantastic water. It's the stuff movies are made of.
I was not aware that the Mediterranean Sea has such incredible water. There apparently are lots of mega yachts that cruise the islands.
Running a Commander in this water must be a lot of fun, and people must always give you a lot of looks too, wondering what it is? It is in such good shape, it looks new!
It's a storybook world you live in, Sonja! There are few places on earth with water that looks that good. The dining scene, weather, people, boats, all come together! I want to visit this place befor I pass on to the afterlife, it is very special. You are very lucky! Thank you so much for sharing these photos with us, my wife and I ahve been looking at them and we want to plan a vacation to Spain some day. It looks like you and your family have a wonderful life, and you have our very best wishes from the United States. May peace be with you all.
I'm impressed. What a pleasure it must be to live in an area so beautiful, I hope you don't ever take it for granted. Thanx for the pics, they're great
I also appreciated seeing your photos, Heidi, they're great too!
Im quite intrigued with the Commander cruising done by the Oelgart family, these photos are a lot of fun. Thanks Sonja, for sending them to us, they are truly fascinating.
I did a little searching for Formentera, because I didnt know anything about it. Heres some of what I found.
The Balearic Islands, an autonomous division of Spain, are one of the most popular holiday destinations in all of Europe. The well-known island of Mallorca is the largest in the group..
Their excellent climate, beaches and natural beauty attracts visitors from around the world.
Fomentera is the small island in the upper left section of the satellite image.
Summer is the best time to visit Formentera. The island offers the possibility to dive this spectacular underwater landscape, thanks to the exceptional climate and the warm, crystal-clear waters, with visibility up to a depth of 50 metres.
The island of Formentera is the smallest inhabited island of the Balearics. It lies to the south of Ibiza at a distance of 2 nautical miles, although the distance between the two ports is of 12 miles.
Its main charm is the natural environment and, most importantly, its beaches with white sand and transparent waters. Formentera is an almost entirely flat island except for two promontories, one on each end: Cap de Barbaria with the mountain Puig Guillem (109 metres) and Mola with its Talaiassa (192 metres), the highest point of the island.
Diving in Formentera and Ibiza (Pitiusas Islands) Some of the most important resources the islands of Ibiza and Formentera can boast of is the Mediterranean Sea surrounding them, their beautiful coastlines and their crystal-clear waters, which make the beaches in the Pitiusas an experience tourists want to repeat year after year. Diving is one of the sports preferred by an increasingly demanding tourism.
The first thing we notice about our dives is the amazing visibility ( up to 50 meters) and the variety of seascape: caves, fissures and coral reefs form part of these islands' extraordinary seabed which, among its abundant flora and fauna, is home to large colonies of Posidonia oceanica, an autochthonous Mediterranean plant.
How to arrive? The island does not have an airport, and is therefore only accessible by boat, making it slightly more complicated and expensive, but also allowing for its state of somewhat isolation, peace and excellent conservation. Access to Formentera is only possible through Ibiza which can be reached by plane or ferry from various ports on the mainland: Valencia, Denia, Barcelona....
There are many boats which leave daily from Ibiza (scheduled according to time of year) which can take you to the port of La Savina, which is the only port of access to Formentera. Navigation between the two ports is of 25 minutes and the ferry runs between the many small islands such as Espalmador, Penjats, Porcs...
That ends the geography lesson for today. Amazing information coming from a boating site!
Ernie, your satellite view prompted me to look up Formentera on Google Earth. Check it out!
If you want to see something quite amazing, look up Formentera, Spain, and go to the section of the island Sonja identified. I zoomed right in to the beach they were on, and turned the image around to give the same general perspective. Almost like being there!
Thank You for this work! Her are new fotos for YOU!

Hello and Hola @ all!
Thanks Paul and Ernie for this big work, to insert all the information about Formentera in this thread - I cannot believe it, wow!

These were received via email today, so I'm posting them here in the thread.
Father and son come to a mutual understanding, on vacation together, it doesn't get much better than this. Note: you can see LEGENDE at anchor out over Tobias's shoulder, just a dingy ride away!
It looks like Sonja and Tobias got some quality time together too!
Beautiful photography, brought to the Chris Craft Commander Forum by satellite, direct from Spain. AMAZING !!
Oliver and Sonja enjoying their THREE WEEK vacation!!
Seeing LEGENDE at anchor out in the beautiful harbor, now we see what an inflatable dingy is all about. It's the ideal transport betwen the anchorage and the sandy beach.
I enjoy seeing the photos from Spain, they are just wonderful. I love your boat, the water, and the great destinations you have at your front door! You and your family are very lucky, may you have many more wonderful adventures together.
Very nice, thank you! The photos are wonderful, the boating location is just beautiful. I have looked over your other threads here, you and your family are having lots of fun with your boat, great to see it. I wish all the best of luck to you.
This is one of my favorite threads, but there is another good one about the restaurant they discovered that was on pilings out in the Med, only accessible by boat, !
