Here we have Kelvin Sims’s beautiful 1969 27’ Commander Sport Fisherman, and we appreciate Kevin sending in the images! This is a pretty rare boat to be seen these days, especially with the optional flybridge and twin engines. This boat is loaded with power, and is probably one of the fastest in the Commander fleet, second to the 427 powered 23’ Commander and the 19’ Commander Super Sports, and perhaps equal to the twin engine 427-powered 31.
In any case, this is a lot of motor in a 27’ boat.
This model “has it all”. It has a dinette, a porta potty, an interior helm station for bad weather, a flybridge for good weather and running in areas where additional visibility is needed, a reasonable aft deck for fishing, utility, and a couple deck chairs, and good Commander lines.
(Below): Here’s a view of that interior helm station. A really nice feature for a boat in Kevin’s New England area, because weather does get cold, and an interior helm is a blessing in cold weather.
Upper helm station is the “only way to fly” on that spectacular beautiful day!
Here's a view of that modified V hull. Not too deep for speed, but deep enough to be a pretty nice performer in a moderate chop.
