| 327F smoked down the neighborhood, dogs barking, no calls yet (thankfully) !November 24 2006 at 11:12 AM | Paul (no login) | |
| Well the neighbors are probably wondering, "what the heck is he up to now?"
Nice quiet holiday afternoon, birds are chirping, slight breeze, not a stir anywhere.
All of a sudden the quiet is shattered by a Chris Craft 327F bellowing through twin straight pipes, sporting new ignition parts and sounding like a NASCAR racing car. Yes, the engine is warm now, and it ran well.
Previously it ran for a few seconds at a time and allowed us to check a few things out. Today, however, with new ignition parts, new rotor, cap, etc., and a secure fuel line, bang, it fired up and really sounded good. It ran for less than one minute, so as to not burn up any exhaust tubing or overheat any of that iron. No impellers or alternators are hooked up at this time, just the motor.
Now I need to hook up a water supply and run it for an extended period of time with a temp gauge. Once this is done, I'll have to be sure and pump in some antifreeze because it WILL be getting cold here (but not for at least another week, temps are in the 70s). Yes indeed, we only will be using an environmentally safe antifreeze, and there won't even be a drop of that around for an inquisitive dog. Antifreeze and dogs do NOT mix (deadly combination).
So far nobody has called to complain, and thats a good thing! Now I need to hook up a video cam, ha ha, the sounds are quite impressive!
