Hello Paul, For some time, I have been watching your Commander Super Sport and XK-19 posts with great interest, as well as most everything else. I have owned a 1970 XK19 V-drive for several years and have tried to learn as much as I could about the early series. I believe Alan Jackson's boat is actually a 1969. The differences I see are the large CC gauges - (1970 and beyond used smaller aircraft style Stewart Warner gauges.) The switches for 1969 (lights, bilge pump, etc.) were push pull and located right of the steering wheel. In 1970 and beyond, they are located below the gauges. In 1969 only, a steering column was used (1970 and beyond used cable). There are also differences in the fiberglass behind the rear seat, and the bracing. I don't think the XK19 emblems were used consistently. I've seen them on early and late 1970's, but not on all. I believe all the serial numbers using a "V" - FRAV and ORAV designate a V-drive. The "Z"'s are the trans / out drive. I also believe the 302's were only used in 1969 with the transdrive, with 327Q's only used with the v-drive. I hope this maybe adds to the knowledge base. Keep up the great work, you've got a great site!
