23' Chris Craft Commander Value

Good morning,

I've been looking at a 23' Chris Craft Commander for about a year now, trying to convince the gentleman that owns it to sell it. Well, he called last night and said make an offer, and I'm up a creek because I don't know how much to offer him.

Information and photos below:

1. The hull # is FRBV23 0040V. From information provided by others in the Commander Community lasst year, this boat has the following characteristics:

23' Commander: 1968-1969

Hull no. series
* FRAV-23-001 to FRAV-23-050
* FRBV 23-001 to FRBV-23-065

Number of hulls built: 115
Length: 23' 1"
Beam: 8'
Draft: 31"
Freeboard: Forward (34") / Aft (30")
Height: 7' 9"
Weight: 4324-4625 lbs.
Fuel capacity: 50 gallons
Hull material: Fiberglass
Bottom color: blue-gray
Waterline color: white
Hullside color: blue-gray
Deck color: blue-gray

Engines offered:
*327F
*327Q
*427

2. The boat was untarped for an unknown length of time. I did tarp is for the gentleman at the end of last summer, so it weathered the winter under a tarp.
3. He claims that the engine has been rebuilt, however the water pickup pump (?) has not been reinstalled. But after doing so and tuning and prepping the engine, he claims that it will run correctly.
4. It appears to have no obvious defects in the the fiberglass, top or bottom.
5. I found a 71 Lancer on Ebay last night, 23' & approximately the same condition, and it was being offered for $300.

In asking for help from this community, what else can I offer in the way of photos or investigation of the boat. I want to make an informed decision in the purchase and my gut tells me that there is some money that is going to have to put into the boat to get it tip-top.

Best, and in advance, thank you for any replies.
